ARTIST STATEMENT:
I am an Abstract Artist working in Fiber and Mixed-Media/Expressive Painting and Collage. It is through creating art of many kinds that I express my best self, always intuitively with little planning in mind. I love the improv quality that comes through when I can listen to “the next step” in my mind, or the “what ifs” that so many artists hear as the creative process unfolds.
Dyeing silks and cotton fabrics, and then incorporating surface design techniques, is really intriguing to me — I love incorporating bits of hand-designed fabrics into the mix of a piece. My past life as a graphic designer (before computers) aids in most design choices.
